Solo traveling… it’s not an easy step, especially the first time. Here’s how I learned to enjoy it, experience incredible moments, and meet amazing new people!
It can be a big step—moving to another country, relocating to a new city, or even deciding to take a city trip on your own. You need to be confident and embrace the adventure. Some people find it easy, while for others, the idea seems overwhelming.
My experience solo traveling in Valencia
I want to share my experience and tips to make solo traveling a little easier for those considering it. Looking back, I wish I had more guidance before I started. My ultimate tip—and something that helped me a lot—is to join group activities such as walking tours, bike tours, and pub crawls. One organization I highly recommend is Tour Me Out! They collaborate with hostels, which means many other solo travelers join their activities. This way, you’ll meet people in a similar situation, all looking for social connections and new friendships.
Solo Traveling as a Woman: Embracing the Adventure with Confidence
Solo traveling as a woman can be a bit daunting, especially when you’re heading to a new city or country for the first time. Safety is often a top concern, and it’s completely understandable. The good news is, there are ways to make solo travel both exciting and safe—and joining group activities is one of them!
When I first set out on my solo adventure, I was cautious and a little nervous. But I quickly learned that the right group activities, like those offered by Tour Me Out, can provide both the thrill of exploration and a sense of security. From walking tours to pub crawls, the community of travelers you meet along the way can offer a welcoming, supportive environment.
I felt incredibly safe throughout my time with Tour Me Out. The guides are professional, the activities are well-organized, and being part of a group made me feel more secure and confident in my surroundings. As a solo female traveler, it was a huge relief to know that I was part of a group that looked out for each other. I was able to focus on enjoying my experiences without worrying about my safety.
If you’re a woman thinking about traveling solo, my advice is simple: trust your instincts, stay in well-reviewed accommodations, and, whenever possible, join group activities. You’ll not only feel safer but also meet amazing people who share your love for adventure. If you’re looking for a safe, fun, and social experience, I highly recommend joining the activities with Tour Me Out during your stay!
Extra Safety Tip: Use Uber for Extra Peace of Mind
When traveling solo, especially at night, I always recommend using Uber instead of walking long distances, particularly in unfamiliar areas. It’s a convenient and safe way to get around, and it offers the comfort of knowing you’re in good hands. I felt much more secure when booking an Uber after late-night activities or when I needed to travel through unfamiliar neighborhoods.
Pub crawl
One of my first days in Valencia, I joined the Tour Me Out pub crawl, and I immediately met great, fun people—many of whom I still keep in touch with today! My biggest advice: step out of your comfort zone and join in! It might feel intimidating at first to experience something alone, but activities like these create a welcoming atmosphere where friendships naturally form. The pub crawl was my first step toward making connections and enjoying great company. Everyone was in a good mood, and we all had the same goal: to have an amazing night with new people!
Free walking tour
A few days after the pub crawl, I joined the free walking tour from the same
organization, Tour Me Out!. This was a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a free, fun activity while meeting fellow travelers. The tour started with an introduction from the guide and a short round of introductions from the group. Right away, I knew who I was walking with and where everyone was from. This made it easy to find common ground, leading to interesting conversations and new friendships. Plus, I got to discover the city and its fascinating history while being surrounded by new people.
All in all, I’m incredibly grateful to Tour Me Out for an unforgettable night, an insightful walking tour, and most importantly, for the new friendships I made along the way!
Are you a solo traveler? Then I highly recommend joining Tour Me Out!
